Expat Living: Tempted To Run With The Bulls at Pamplona? Try This Instead!
As expats and global travelers, we come across some interesting situations. But nothing I’ve ever seen comes close to this…
What is it about adventure travel and extreme sports that makes us want to do this? Even after watching this several times, I still gasp as my heart wants to stop in several places.
I have hiked up the steep cliffs to the top of Beş Barmaq in Azerbaijan to say a holy prayer, and went swimming at sunrise in the Caspian- wondering if I really would be covered in petroleum film when I got out, and had guns pointed at me, only to be rescued by the US Embassy guards (not quite Argo, but close enough for me!). I’m no stranger to adventure, but I also don’t wish to be flown home in a box!
What about you?
Karen van der Zee writes as Miss Footloose in Life In The Expat Lane about “accidental driving” in Indonesia, and check out Part Time Traveler‘s Anne Lowery as she takes her first (and perhaps last?) leap off an Australian bridge!
What’s the most exhilarating thing you have done in your travels or at home? And more importantly I guess, what did you learn from the experience? What was your big Life Lesson?
My take-away was that I’m more risk averse than I thought! I do understand, though, that this works to advantage as I consult with others who manage risk everyday. Maybe not the Life Lesson you imagined, but I figure any time we learn something about ourselves that can be beneficial later, it’s all good!
Ok, your turn… got pictures or video of your risk-taking adventures? Let’s share them here. Either send me a link or let me know how we can showcase your bravado here. I may not be a real risk taker but I am a great applauder!
